Ikat: Traditional Textile Dyeing

Ikat is a traditional textile dyeing technique where the threads are dyed before they are woven into fabric. In this process, sections of the yarns are tightly bound with a resistant material (like wax or string) to prevent them from absorbing dye. After the dyeing process, the bindings are removed, and the threads are woven into patterns.

The resulting fabric often has a distinctive, slightly blurry or feathered pattern because the dyed areas do not perfectly align during weaving.

What is a Zabuton?

A zabuton (pron. zah’-boo-tawn) is the foundation cushion for your zafu (round sitting cushion) or meditation bench, where it provides essential cushioning for your ankles and knees while in a variety of seated meditation positions.
